Eagles - Hotel California
Song Facts

Don Felder:

"I had just leased this house out on the beach at Malibu, I guess it was around '74 or '75. I remember sitting in the living room, with all the doors wide open on a spectacular July day. I had this acoustic 12-string and I started tinkling around with it, and those Hotel California chords just kind of oozed out. Every once in a while it seems like the cosmos part and something great just plops in your lap." (thanks, Stone - Libertyville, IL)

Carl Douglas - Kung Fu Fighting

The Keyboard Player - Greg Z - does Kung Fu...

Grez not only is a great keyboard player but really does Kung Fu with almost 10 years of experience.  Certified in two styles, working on a third, meditates, does self defense, and assistant instructs too.

Rick James - Super Freak

Super Freaky means...

This song is about a girl who is very adventurous sexually, especially with members of a band. A "Freak" is slang for someone willing to try various fetishes, thus a "Super Freak" will try just about anything.

This was released on Motown Records, and featured backup vocals by The Temptations, something James points out in the song when he screams: "Tempations sing." One of their members, Melvin Franklin, was Rick James' uncle.

Over the years, the word "Freak" became very popular and Hip Hop and R&B lyrics. It's a versatile word that can be used as both a verb ("Freak Me") and a noun ("The Freaks Come Out At Night"). Use of the word peaked in the mid-'90s with the phrase, "Get your freak on."

Weezer - Beverly Hills

Lead Singer Rivers Cuomo...

said in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine that this is about how he could live in Beverly Hills but he wouldn't fit in: "'I could live in Beverly Hills, sure," he says, meaning he could afford it easily. "But I couldn't belong there.'" Beverly Hills is considered a very wealthy area where many celebrities and socialites live. (thanks, Emily - Rockton, IL)

Producer Rick Rubin worked on the album.  He has worked with many successful bands, including Aerosmith and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. (thanks, lexie - sydney, Australia)
